A Step By Step Guide: How to Apply Individual Lashes

by Bepholan Beauty on

Step By Step Guide: Applying individual lashes takes patience, perseverance and practise. Once you have nailed the technique though, it can be a quick and easy alternative to traditional strip lashes that are designed to provide a much softer, more natural enhancement and finish. They last much longer than standard strip lashes, making them perfect for long weekends away or holidays in which you want to look glam and wide-eyed at all times. This post will guide you through the full individual lash application process, we promise you’ll be a pro in no time!

What you will need:

  • Individual lash Adhesive– it’s important you select the right adhesive, and don’t get a strip lash adhesive by mistake as it won’t offer the same results. Most of our Individual Eyelash Adhesives are designed for a long-lasting hold of up to 10 days, and many are available in both a clear and dark tone finish.

Our favourite is the BEPHOLAN Professional Individual Eyelash Glue.

  • Tweezers– pointed tweezers are best as they have a finer tip which is perfect for precisely picking up each lash cluster when removing them from the tray, and applying them later on.

We recommend the BEPHOLAN Lash Applicator.

  • Individual lashes of your choice– any pack of individual, cluster lashes will be fine to use following our application method. If you are a beginner however, we suggest starting with a short length lash. Cluster kit XMZ259 is always a great shout!
  • A Mirror – a good-sized vanity mirror will be perfect for this, just make sure it will sit securely on a surface that will be in line with your face and eyes in particular.
  • A spoolie brush/mascara wand – to comb the lashes into place and blend the individual lashes with your natural lashes

BEPHOLAN 2Pcs Crystal Eye Brush is a must when comes to combing.

*Adhesive Patch Test*

Before applying any individual lashes, it is highly important that you carry out a patch test to reduce the risk of a reaction. To carry out the patch test, follow these steps:

  1. Apply a small amount of adhesive to a small area on the skin such as behind the ear using a cotton bud.
  2. Allow for the adhesive to dry and leave untouched/uncovered for at least 48 hours.
  3. If no reaction or irritation occurs, then it is unlikely you will react from a full treatment, however this is never guaranteed.
  4. If you suffer from any irritation or reaction, immediately wash the affected area thoroughly and stop using the product.

If you haven’t suffered from a reaction, you should be okay to proceed with the full application of individual lashes.

Step One

Cleanse your eyes and eyelashes using a non-oily makeup remover to ensure the lashes are clean and any makeup residue is eliminated. Use a mascara wand to gently brush your natural lashes into place.

Step Two

Pour a couple of drops of adhesive into a glue dish or onto some tinfoil. You don’t need to pour too much out as a little goes a long way.

Step Three

Using the tweezers, carefully lift an individual lash cluster from the tray, being extra careful not to damage or misshape the lashes.

Step Four

Gently sweep the tip or bulb of the lash cluster, through the individual lash adhesive, ensuring to pick up just a tiny amount of adhesive.

Step Five

Position the individual lash directly on top of your natural lashes, as close to the lash line as possible, without touching the eyelid. Hold the cluster in place for approximately 20 seconds so that the glue can form a strong bond.

Step six

Continue the previous steps adding as many or as few lashes as you like along the lash line, to build up the volume you require. We recommend using a mixture of short and medium lashes, positioning the medium clusters towards the outer edge creating an effortless elongated effect.

Step seven

Once you have completed the application and have finished adding the lashes, use a mascara wand brush to gently comb through the lashes, blending them in to your natural lashes and neatening them up.
